E3: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is an action-adventure game for the PS3 originally announced at E3 2006. In reference to the title, Nathan Drake is a descendant of the famous explorer Sir Francis Drake. Developed by Naughty Dog, the studio who created Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter, the game is set for release in the US sometime in November, 2007.

The story begins with Nathan Drake as a modern-day fortune hunter on an exploration for the fabled treasure of El Dorado. The game is based on a long-forgotten island somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The search turns deadly when Nathan Drake becomes stranded on the island as mercenaries hunt him down. Outnumbered and outgunned, Drake and his companions must fight to survive as the island's mysterious secrets begin to unravel.

The game features lush jungle backgrounds and 400yr-old ruins and has been nicknamed "Dude Raider" & "Man Croft" early in the development process -a direct reference to the game's similarities to Tomb Raider.

Fast-paced, and full of gunplay and fighting, the game encourages you to use a wide array of hand-to-hand fighting moves to put your enemy off balance. Gamers will also be able to clamber over obstacles and climb walls as they seek to complete missions.

Looks good, but can it really take the jungle-shooter-action-adventure crown away from a certain other game called Crysis?
